Forum Marketing 101 - General Guidelines

For the online marketer, forum marketing is one of the simplest and most effective investments of time and attention available. Any marketer, in any niche, can participate in this form of online marketing. Just remember that some niches will have more than other forums devoted to them-though most will have a few high traffic forums to choose from.

You've probably heard that some Internet marketers skip this method of marketing altogether. You'll be able to meet many of your marketing goals, however, if you apply these simple tactics to your forum marketing efforts.

Most forum members act according to their personality. There will be many who will be either introverted or extroverted. So just be yourself and let people see your real personality unless it's highly offensive. if you are not that outgoing, don't feel pressured to talk on the forum just yet. Many people like to do this, which is known as lurking. It might seem too frightening to make your first post. Just post in other threads and add something to the conversation. Forum marketing has rules that you have to follow, but the main one is to give value to the community via your posts. If you do this you will help others. People can become resentful or insecure for a lot of reasons. One reason could be that you act like you are the only one who is familiar with a particular subject. But it is based upon how you you can try this out act in the forums. Yes, it could be that you are very experienced, but you have to be cognizant of how others perceive you. If people get bad vibes about you, then it will have a negative impact on your reputation. You can be the smartest person in the world and it will not matter if others do not want to hear what you have to say.

It doesn't take long to see that some people always seem to be coming up with new ideas and beginning new threads. Not all forum members click here for more appreciate that. Don't use all your great thread topic ideas at once. Spread them out over time.

If you can start one thread five days a week, go for it, but be sure you make posts, too. Human nature will show quite often on forums. You can't always bend to the will of others though-even in a situation like this. You'll have no shortage of gray areas to contemplate as you use forum marketing more and more. The best approach is to share your knowledge in as many ways as possible.

It's really easy to make this work without spending much more than five hours a week for all your forum marketing efforts regardless of how many forums you're working with. That's nothing when you're talking about high-value marketing activity. Internet marketing can have a lot of ups and downs if you don't diversify your efforts a great deal.
